About this pro

I've been lucky that over my 30+ years of sharing this world through the lens of a camera I've been able to photograph a diverse assortment of places, landscapes and environments. I'm also a geek when it comes to cameras and the latest technology. My passion for sharing what I've learned over the years inspired me to develop my series of coursework.  You'll be challenged, we'll set goals, and you'll become a better photographer.

I picked up my first SLR in 1984 while living in San Diego. Ansel Adams was my idol - that left me with piles of B&W negatives. I started rock climbing a few years later and moved onto shooting color slides up until the digital switch over. More recently I've been focusing on under water and aerial photography.

I'm an avid diver and an SSI Digital Underwater Photography Instructor (SSI DCS). In 2015 I placed first at the Monterey Underwater Shootout. That top prize sent me to Papua New Guinea to spend eight days on a live aboard dive boat tailored for underwater photographers. I love sharing my imagery from that part of the world.

Professionally I'm a drone pilot and instructor. We've been in operation since 2014 and offer a vareity of services including photography/videography, mapping and modeling, and various different types of inspection services with drones. We also offer a variety of courses including Part 107 certification, Photography and Mapping.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Before meeting we'll have a five to 10 minute phone conversation.  I'll be intersted in hearing a bit about your main interests with photography and then specifically what you're goals are with our sessions together.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

When picked up a Canon AE1 in 1986 it was because I had enrolled in Black and White Photography course.  I took photography course every year for my first three years of college. That experience really enforced my understanding of the basics of photography.

As a SSI dive instructor (DCS) I'm also certified to teach. Digital Underwater Photography.
