I have worked and studied in NYC and around the country as a professional theater actor and teacher for over 3 decades. I have had the honor and pleasure of studying acting and directing with the cream of the crop in Method and Meisner techniques, amongst other styles and had outstanding mentors while acting in Regional, Off-Broadway and Broadway shows as well as some film and television. Having run an acting school for youth in Brooklyn, NY and working as a Master Class acting teacher for Sol Via and others around the country, I am never tired of helping actors of any age or skill level to build and refine their actor's toolbox!
I truly enjoy helping actors bring out from themselves everything they can to interpret and build their knowledge and artistry in the great art of acting, especially for theater. We are interpretors of the Human Condition and Experience and having access to all of it in an instant is satisfying not just as artists, but for our own personal growth and awareness as well. It's fun to see people refine their skills with new ideas and knowledge of actor's techniques!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will see where a student is in their skillset and what "natural" talents they have already honed, then build from there. I ALWAYS suggest building and then working on basic refinements no matter how experienced and skilled a student is. I've learned from elder statesmen in Theater, FIlm and Music that one can never regret revisiting a performer's foundation again and again, as our perspectives change through time. Once I have a good idea of how my student learns and where they can use new skills, I take it from there with a variety of lessons and exercises in acting technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied the Method and the Meisner techniques for acting for many years, Via The Actor's And Director's Lab, NYC, HB Studios with Uta Hagen, the Royal Shakespeare Company, A college degree in Theater Performance and DIrecting, as well as in Music. I have studied with multiple actors and directors privately as well, between shows. MOSTLY, though, what has given me the experience and ability to teach others are decades of theatrical performamces in NYC on and off Broadway and Regional Theater and many years of running acting classes and workshops.
