About
Hi my name's Dakota and drumming is my favorite thing to do and I've always loved teaching so I figure why not combine the two right? I've always been a very technical person so I'm normally pretty good at explaining things even if it can be difficult to explain I like to simplify it as best I can.
I love teaching because it's one of the most rewarding feelings I've found! To help someone understand something and see them get it and apply it always encourages me and gives me such a proud feeling!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet someone I like to get a feel for what they're going for and how they learn best. I know everyone works differently and has different goals so I think that's always the priority to establish.
How did you get started teaching?
At almost every job that I had I became the trainer of the new people hired which helped me discover my love for teaching. I knew I wanted to teach drums fairly soon after I started playing them and it just became a wait until I felt ready.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It never hurts to look into different teachers, especially if they have first session free offers. It's a good idea to find someone that's close enough so it doesn't have to be a hassle to get to eachother and more importantly you want to find someone you get along with and want to learn from.
