About this pro

I am a very well-rounded musician! I do have an eclectic musical background to teach differing styles to all types of learners. I have played serious jazz at clubs like Dazzle Jazz. I played with classical ensembles like the Denver Philharmonic. And, throughout my college years, I was able to play in a DCI world class drum corps and in a WGI world class percussion ensemble!

I hold a bachelor's degree in jazz studies with an emphais in drumset from the Univeristy of Denver. Throughout my time in college I played in jazz big bands, jazz small groups, large orchestras, percussion ensembles, and more. I was even awarded "Best Recital" by the acclaimed Lamont Faculty!

I absolutely love to play the drums, but, one day in the future, my legacy won't be the records I've made or the shows I've played'll be the students I've taught. I want to enrich their life in any/every way I can.

Tell me a little about your performance experience:

Even though I love small intimate venues, I would have to say places like Red Rocks Amphitheater, Indianapolis Colts Stadium, Mercedes-Benz StadiumDenver City Hall, and Carnegie Hall. The energy of a huge crowd is really unparalleled.

Nikki is a very patient and skilled individual who will work tirelessly to help drummers and percussionists achieve their goals. She knows her stuff and will take her students playing to the next level. I highly recommend studying with Nikki.

“Niki is a very patient and understanding, and is one of the best instructors I’ve had. She’s been able to show me how to play different genres of music on the set, and how they correlate with the music I’m playing. She’s also coached me in my drumline, showing me and explaining things you can’t learn from any textbook, which is pretty difficult to do with percussion.”

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Every individual is different and that's awesome! I make goals with my students to better themselves as a person and as a musician. Any skill level or age is welcome!

-Some students prepare for college or honor band auditions and need instriction in order to reach that next level.

-Some students need some guidance as they explore expressing themselves through music.

-Some students play for purely fun and bring in their own tunes in; they just want to learn how to jam!

You're unique. Let's find out what you're looking for!
