I have been a professional performing musician, recording artist, private instructor, and clinician since 1999. Most of my students play for fun, but many have gone on to be professional musicians. I cater lessons to the specific needs of each student.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is get to know each student and get a feel for his or her personality. After that, I usually evalute the student's skills in a very easy going, no pressure way. Each student has strenghts and weaknesses. It is my job help turn a student's weaknesses into strengths.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music (Jazz Studies 1999). I have extensive performing, recording, touring and teaching experience. I have taught beginning to advanced students, privately and at institutions such as the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and the Hartt School of Music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $60/hr with the option of 30 or 45 minute lessons.
Lessons at the student's home will be priced on a case by case basis. Please enquire about rates.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with begginers through advanced students. Some of my students have gone on to top music schools and have careers as professional musicians themselves.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a teacher with as much professional experience as possible.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want to accomplish in lessons? What will a particular teacher offer to help me achieve these goals?
