Jacob Presson’s Acting Class
About
As an actor and a teacher, I have a unique perspective of the audition experience. I am also a neurodivergent individual with ADHD and am interested in non-traditional approaches to determining what success looks like for each of my students.
I enjoy the connections I get to make with my students and seeing their own personal growth across our time together.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I believe in taking the time to break the ice (prepare for artist quizzes, games, and more) and connect as partners before moving forward in our work. From there, I vary my teaching approach based on skill level, interests, and focus areas for growth. No matter who the student is, I will always begin our work together with inquiry to build trust and begin our partnership.

How did you get started teaching?
My first teaching experience was in my senior year of High School when I served as an assistant pre-school teacher in my neighborhood. I ended up writing my college essay about the experience because of how much love was in that room. From there, I have been fortunate enough to explore my teaching across enrichment centers, summer camps, one-on-one coaching, and more. I look forward to the continued development of my pedagogy through new and exciting teaching opportunities.
What types of students have you worked with?
As an acting coach, I work with beginning and established clients for film, television, and theater. I specialize in preparing actors for Undergraduate and Graduate school auditions.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before meeting with me, my students should consider the following in order to provide me with an overview of their goals and lines of inquiry:
1. What are you looking for (e.g., on-camera work, stage work, commercial work)?
2. What experience do you have (Nothing is too small! Tell me everything!)?
3. What are your strengths?
4. What are your focus areas for growth?
