About
As an award-winning actor, I have been working with professionals and non-professionals for more than 30 years as a teaching artist teaching scene study and monologue technique. I have helped literally hundreds of students get into top colleges across the country through their auditions, as well as have alumni of mine in Broadway shows, in feature films and on television, and in regional houses and tours around the world.
I love meeting new people and teaching my technique to them. I have found that not only do my students develop solid, organic acting techniques but also develop performance and life skills that serve them well in every endeavor.

Music Theatre Of Connecticut offers a wide range of training in acting that will give you skills and confidence you need to be a successful professional actor in the business. Jim Schilling is not only a brilliant actor himself (often seen on the MTC Mainstage) but a phenomenal coach whos brings his vast knowledge of plays, playwrights, and techniques into the room to help improve your skillset, audition technique, and repertoire as an actor.

They’re very flexible and willing to work with your schedule and genuinely care about all their students! It’s a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and they do all they can to help you reach your goals. A really great place that I would recommend to anybody.

I dont know where I would be without MTC! I started classes and productions at age 13, where I learned that my passion could be a profession. The incredible staff including Jim, Kevin, and Deb taught me that it was possible to achieve my dreams and they were there every step of the way. The College Bound in the Performing Arts program was the best decision I ever made. Jim and Kevin, and the rest of the staff trained me and taught me the most valuable information about what it meant to be a performer and turned a shy girl with no direction and turned her into a confident artist. They helped me through auditions to go on to participate in incredible Summer Programs and to find my dream school, Muhlenberg College where I am a rising senior theatre major and dance minor. I learned every aspect of theatre that I could at MTC because of the amazing support, and have found my love for teaching theatre through working with Deb Levy! I am where I am because of MTC, and I am so grateful to have the amazing people behind it in my life!

I loved how encouraging and knowledgeable they were. There was never a time when I doubted my abilities when working with them. Music Theatre Of Connecticut gave me the tools and the confidence to become the actor I am today, and their work ethic and expertise are unparalleled in a business that is so hard to navigate. I cannot thank them enough, and I would not be where I am today if it werent for the training I received there.

My favorite part about MTC is that the training one receives is so individualized to cater to the specific needs of each individual student, making each actor the best they could possibly be.
