About
Each student that comes for class receives my undivided attention and I am able to bring out the best in a students abilities. Acting can be more challenging than one might imagine. Four instance you may be asked to play some villanous roll and accessing such emotions within yourself could be difficult, even painful. My longtime experience with delving into creating poignant character portrayal is powerful and useful. Every performer has blocks. It could be stage fright or a fear of failure or not be able to access emotions that are the basis of outward expression which is acting. As an acting teacher I will provide techniques to clear your instrument, which is your very self, and hone your understanding of expressing the art and craft of performance.
Art, literature, theatre, and film are second only to direct spiritual experience in coming to understand the human experience. Working in this field can only be an enjoyable rewarding experience.
I started in theatre in the early seventies working in mid-Atlantic regional repertoire companies such as the Norfolk Theatre Compay and the Virginia Opera Society. At that time I worked with and studied under the Polish American director Stanislaus Fedyszyn performing such plays as "Hamlet", "The Glass Menagerie ", and "A Taste if Honey". In the Washington DC area I worked both on and offstage in area theatres including the earlier years of Arena stage.
In the early eighties, following a Master's Degree in film and video production, I worked as a producer with the Smihsonian and ten years in television news in the Gaza Strip, Central America, and the U.S. and writing scripts in Hollywood. Started in 1998 teaching acting and theatre 🎭 in the DC area.
Also in the late '80s and early '90s I began studying with the famous and often controversial Eric Morris, founder of The Actor's Studio in Los Angeles, Ca., who has further refined the method acting system introduced by Stanislavsky and taught by Lee Strasberg in New York and Los Angeles. Eric Morris's system which is what I use has been praised by such actors as Johnny Depp, Jack Nicholson, Sally Kirkland, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I have taught acting both privately and in schools in the Washington area and directed plays such as "Mid-Summer's Night Dream", "The Miracle Worker", and "Blithe Spirit". Bringing out the best in an Actor is what I do.
