Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We usually schedule a 1 hour consultation. This allows us to get to know you and what you'd like to achieve in your dancing. Then we'll teach you some basic steps based on what kind of music you like or what you'll most likely encounter. Then once you've had a chance to try out the learning process and learned a couple moves, we'll sit down and decide what the best next step for you is. No hard sells or high pressure, just giving you the information to put your right foot forward.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types! From children, to couples looking to do something fun together or reconnect, to singles who want to committ to doing something for themselves, to retirees who are finally taking the time to learn to dance. Ranging from lifetime dancers to beginners with two left feet.
We even have experience teaching students with special needs and in wheelchairs.
We truly believe ANYONE can learn to dance and want to share that love with the whole world.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Give it a try! Most instructors/studios have an introductory offer. Take advantage of it and then make sure it feels comfortable. Learning to dance can be awkward, but a good teacher makes the process feel easy, comfortable, and fun! Make sure you feel those things with your instructor, and if you do, that's a great sign!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
