Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I specialize in and am a multiple award winning instructor for students as young as 3 and up to 18. I will work with more experienced students in their early to mid 20’s as well.
My process for working with new students starts with a deep dive into their game if they have experience and for those that don’t, I look at their other athletic experiences as well as their knowledge of the game. We then observe the current state of their game through some tests and video analysis and then build a plan of attack for moving forward.
I rarely do single lessons as I prefer students that see instruction as a process that builds from one step to the next. So lesson packages of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months are the options I offer
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 14 year PGA Professional that has worked in the industry for nearly 30 years. I have won over 25 prestigious industry awards for my work. Most notably, the 2017 PGA National Youth Player Development Award. In 2019 I was named by Central Florida Family Magazine as 1 of 15 recipients of their “Men of the Year” designation for my work with youth through the game of golf. I have appeared on the Golf Channel’s Morning Drive 5 times, been a featured speaker at several PGA and Golf Industry Confrences and am a freelance writer for several industry publications.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do. My base hourly rate is $125 however, I only now offer lesson packages of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. The packages are not necessarily “monthly” as they are more pre-buying heavily discounted hourly bulk packages. The breakdown is for “3 months” is 24 lesson hours, “6 months” is 48 hours, “9 months” is 72 hours and “12 months” is 96 hours. Packages are basically pre-purchasing these hours for up to 55% off the normal hourly rate. In some cases I will offer payment plans. These lessons are private lessons.
Our Little Linksters Association, which is our 501c3 nonprofit arm of our brand offers numerous different group programs as well. This also includes programs for youth with special needs and an award winning, year round tournament series that has children ages 3-15 play some of the best golf courses in the state of Florida.
In addition, our Academy offers PGA Jr. League programming year round, PGA Jr. Camps and more!
How did you get started teaching?
It’s all I have done for as long as I can remember. I first started assisting at junior camps for younger kids when I was in high school myself. I’ve worked at a golf course in some capacity since 1990.
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with well over 1,000 students in my career and probably many more. Not just in teaching how to play the game but also teaching about the golf industry for those looking to work in golf. I was a formal educator at the Golf Academy of America Carreer College and the Professional Golfers Career College for almost a decade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every day working with my students and our organizations members are events I am fond of!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at the instructors credentials and research them.
