About

Hi my name is Cheryl E. Grant and I am an actress and filmmaker and director of the Multi Award Winning Film, “John Strasberg: Accidentally On Purpose.” I have worked as an actress and director for many years and I’m a long-time protégée of internationally-renowned acting teacher and director; John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg, founder of the Actors Studio. As a teacher and a coach, I take pride in carrying forth and passing on the great legacy of the realistic school of acting that evolved from Konstantin Stanislavsky’s Moscow Art Theater to the work of The Group Theater (which included Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Bobby Lewis, Elia Kazan and many more ) through to the legendary Actors Studio and finally to John Strasberg’s Studio. I believe that great acting is a soul commitment that can be developed with determination, connection and love. I am proud to be a part of this legacy and to share all I’ve learned with students at all levels of experience across the country.

My love of theater extends to teaching individuals and groups how to work, grow, deepen and succeed in performing classic and contemporary theater styles, film and television and even corporate events. I toured many states and given talks and Q&A sessions with my film “John Strasberg: Accidentally On Purpose” and I actively incorporate what John’s Nine Natural Laws of Creativity into all my work. It’s an important and evolutionary departure from Lee Strasberg's Method. I help students develop an organic creative process; that is to say, develop their own conscious contact and connection to the material, opening up to inspiration and strengthening their ability to hear and follow their instincts and discover their own unique artistry and approach to the craft of theater and film.

I also direct and write for the cabaret stage, winning the Manhattan Association of Cabarets Award MAC Award for the Roger’s And Hart Review, Thou Swell Thou Witty Thou Rogers and Hart and have developed and directed one person shows as well as work with ensembles. My love of cabaret can be experienced in a documentary that features some of the greatest performers of our time, entitled “The Torchbearers: A Romance In Words And Music.” I love working in musical theater and will be offering workshops on song choice and performance. My corporate experience is work in industrials includes film and onsite interviews with CEO’s and thought leaders from companies like American Express, Pfizer and many others. I do corporate speech coaching and content development tailoring the experience each individual’s strengths.

Cheryl is a wonderful coach who breaks down a script from the beginning. I feel that with Cheryls lessons you can act at an optimal level and feel good about your performance afterwards. She reminds actors that the craft should be an enjoyable constant learning experience.
