Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We begin usually on zoom or in person by doing a screen test based on an audition taking your age and experience into consideration. I then offer the opportunity to break down the script to make a point of hitting certain points necessary for booking the job and seeing if that direction is taken.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been at Casting Director since the early 90s on hundreds of commercials, TV shows, music videos, print jobs and feature films. I have worked with hundreds of directors and clients and producers and Talent on a regular basis. I have tons of experience and resources in guiding talent in the right direction as well as redirecting talent that have not been booking jobs. I specialize in Self Tape auditions
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Normally a private hour is $150. Since Covid I have considerably dropped my rate in order for actors to stay on course. I have offered packages on my website for talent to be able to zoom at a special $55 rate per hour
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after hundreds of CASTINGS with clients and callback sessions and really getting an understanding of what clients wanted to see from Talent and Auditions depending on the genre. I was happy to share this in classes and saw how successful it was immediately and noticed that many people offered acting lessons but no one really offered auditioning skills. You could be memorized and have an idea of what you're going to do on the audition but many times it doesn't go your way and you need to be prepared. Having an understanding from the clients point of you is eye-opening. I've seen the difference in my classes and in Talent being successful from having this understanding. I'm very good at what I do.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from age 3 into their 80s. I have worked with trained actors and actors with no experience at all. As I have so many resources and experience I enjoy referring talent that put in the work to the right agent that could help them get the right part!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to narrow in on exactly what you're trying to get accomplished. Do you know your market? Do you understand production and how it works? Do you know what is needed in your tool kit to even be considered by an agent? I would make sure that the person helping you can set goals that are realistic for you with the timeline to make sure you are reaching them, otherwise move on. There are many out of work actors that offer acting classes… Think about that. Sometimes it is best to work with professionals that are actually working in the field that you are trying to emulate. Resources and networking with the "right people"are so important in our industry. Having the wrong people on your résumé sometimes can get you nowhere and you don't understand why.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals? Are they realistic? What kind of time am I willing to invest and creating a budget where you can consistently train in the most realistic & affordable way. Being in a real casting studio is very effective for establishing eyelines, playback, working with a reader and viewing your auditions along with feedback from a professional. The more practice you can get on camera the better! Work with people who are willing to work with you because they see your dedication and commitment to your craft.
