Hi, my name is Stephen Hopper, and golf is my passion. I am 27 years old and have been golfing my entire life. I recently moved down to st. Augustine to pursue a golf career!
Over the past two years, I have been coached and trained by Gerry James, 2x world long drive champion and PGA professional. I have competed in 2 world long drive championships myself and have placed in the top 10 in the world on the amateur side. I have driven the ball over 400 yards in competition.
My next passion is to teach the game I love! I can guarantee at least a 10 yard gain in distance with working with me! I am a young and charismatic individual with a keen eye for detail. I know the right positions of the golf swing and I would love to share that with the world. I am currently going through the PGA of America program to get my PGA certification!
I have also been chosen as a top 10 instructor in the area according to lessons.com!!!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is first to examine the students swing. I will have the student take about 5 or 6 balls, I will take some videos and see what exactly is wrong in the swing using my slo mo camera. Then we will go into drills and try and produce the proper technique to hit flush shot after flush shot!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been coached by 2x world long drive champion Gerry James and have also worked with his son Justin James who is currently #2 in the world in long drive. I have played golf my entire life and competed in world long drive championships! I can guarantee a 10 yard gain in distance after working with me.

How did you get started teaching?
Working with My coach for 2 years gave me the knowledge to coach on my own and teach what he has taught me! Playing golf over the course of my entire life has given me the knowledge to pursue a career in teaching it!

Competing in 2 World Long Drive Championships! I also play on the Florida Pro Tour and other mini tours around Florida!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
All good coaches have to have a passion for what they are doing. I eat breathe live for golf. I would also look for a charismatic and outgoing person so the lessons are fun and enjoyable and not intimidating! Every golfer has a different pace and patience is needed in this industry.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
All questions are good questions! If you are not getting something you have to speak up and ask what it is you aren't getting! Understanding the why is just as important as going through the motion
