The process of learning to sing is a journey of both vocal and personal development. The physical nature of learning to sing is tied in with the body and emotion. Carolyn Sloan, author, and music educator states, “A voice is as unique as the person it belongs to, and in order to truly sing, that fact needs to be respected, even as we are told that our voices should conform to some idealized form of singing.” Each student is an individual and requires a unique application of teaching methods. I’ve worked diligently as a music teacher and professional musician for over 20 years. Students range from elementary students to adults and emerging professionals. I have taught classical, music theatre, jazz and pop and folk music.
