How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching for most of my professional life. Having earned two Bachelors Degrees (Psychology and Criminal Justice), I taught within the Orange County Public School System as a 5th grade teacher, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida as a Program Director for 15 years, and I was a Sunday School Teacher/Youth Counselor/District Youth Director for the Church of God for 20 years. When I began acting professionally, I also worked as a Substitute Teacher where I was awarded Substitute Teacher of the Year in 2018. With my small business, I also provide workshops for teachers, youth leaders, parents and mentors.
What types of students have you worked with?
Youth: between the ages of 6-18
Adults who work with you: all ages
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I offered a free acting workshop for beginners. Three of my students booked paid acting jobs and were later signed to the agency that I'm signed.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to ask them questions. You are wisely using your money to invest in your future, so also be wise in choosing who you learn from. They need to be honest, as well as knowledable.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-What is your background in this field?
-Can you provide proof of your work?
-What can I expect to happen in our lessons?
-Are there any conditions that you refuse to work within?
