Hamblin Piano Studio
About
I love teaching piano and helping students find a creative outlet! I have been teaching piano since I was just in high school, and have been teaching professionally for the last 14 years. I am a certified, K-12 teacher in the state of Florida and I specialize in piano. I see myself as a teacher who meets students where they are at to provide an excellent music education while still keeping lessons fun and engaging! While my students explore various genres of literature and even composition, my students also consistently earn superior ratings in central Florida events. I am a well rounded, personable teacher and I would love to meet you and help you start your piano journey!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to see what you would like to get out of piano lessons and we start simple to make sure we cover all the basics!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree is in music education and I'm certified to teach music in grades K-12 in Florida. I have 6 years of experience teaching in the classroom and 14 years of experience teaching piano in a professional setting. I am also a member of several professional organizations that provide resources and opportunities for my students and for my own professional development!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lesson rate is $35/lesson (30 minute lessons)!
How did you get started teaching?
My own piano teacher in high school recommended that I take on my own students. With her guidance and supervision, I began to learn how to teach. In college, I took a job teaching at a music school and gained a lot of experience teaching piano there as I observed other teachers.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from age 3 to 74 with a variety of learning styles and learning disabilities. Music is a universal language and I've learned that it can be taught to anyone!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just hosted a group class for some of my younger learners and a student performed a popular piece in one of the method books I use. Several of the other students have played this song, so by the end of his performance, I had several other students humming along to the song and clapping wildly for one of their favorites!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Regardless of how far you think you'll go with piano, hire someone who is classicaly trained and has experience. With every passing year, I realize how much of my experience and expertise I actually use in these beginning lessons. One day, I hope to teach teachers!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you want out of piano and write down your questions! Make sure the teacher you find is a good fit for you. Also, make sure you are willing to put in about 15 minutes of practice a few times a week. Without practice, it is really hard to progress at all.
