"Theater is a safe place to do unsafe things."
My role as an acting coach is to dedicate the techniques and skills I've acquired through my years of performing, writing plays, and teaching young actors to find a unique way to help those who seek to explore the art of acting discover a vision of their own! I want to contribute my positive energy to be a supportive presence in a home where the arts are genuinely priority, and those who are present are those who are passionate. I especially want to reinforce the importance of understanding that acting is essentially embodying a character, and that the best of performances come from bringing on real emotions, real experiences to add truth, depth, and originality to each role! There is so much freedom in the discipline and so much of an exhileration in this art, that I always feel that I am not working, but rather experiencing a new journey through teaching.
The Nest of Living Arts, Inc , (N.O.L.A.) School for Performing Arts was my teaching home for coaching talented and passionate actors from ages 4 to ages 42 , beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. For the past 3 years I've given my students the internal tools to develop their confidence embodying characters, and create characters and scripts of their own in various seasonal performances.
As the playwright of 8+ musical theater productions performed by N.O.L.A. , I've had a lot of experience training actors how to expand their palettes in various genres, explore and create unique plots, and breathe life into entertaining and moving performances.

First we focus on familiarizing the instructor and actor with introductions. What's your favorite color? Favorite play? Why did you decide to act? What is your biggest fear when it comes to performing? What do you look forward to as an actor? Understanding the student is important to learn how to being out the best artist in them.
We then move on to a cold reading of a monologue as well as a few improv skits. This is important to understand where the actor presently stands as a performer and know where we build and improve from that point.
Evaluate and Engage. Now that we have a glimpse of our actor's skills we can assess what method of acting we can implement in order to best coach their talent. Each person is different and each level has it's advantages. Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced levels each will be exposed to different material and different goals to ensure their projection, diction, blocking, presence, memorization, understanding of character and general performance becomes optimized.

I began teaching acting as a part of a summer performance arts curriculum at the Nest of Living Arts, Inc. I fell in love with teaching young minds how to use their thoughts, voices and imaginations into a whole new realm and the freedom of being able to generate our own content to perform in a professional setting. After that summer I became the resident Acting Coach for the regular season of the performing arts school, teaching actors as young as 5 years old to actors aged 44 years in mixed disciplines including method acting, therapy theater, and improvisational acting. Through the 3 years I spent teaching at N.O.L.A. my students performed in a total of 12 community and independent plays. My favorite part of teaching was watching material we generated in a black box room alone, transform to life in stage in front of a well receiving and engaged audience. The perfect reward for a lot of hard work.
I've worked with students aged 5 years old ranging to adults aged in their 40s. There is no age too soon or too late to start.
I've worked with children with special needs and will continue to do so.
I've worked with a group of children as a part of outreach programs for foster homes.
I've worked with poets and spoken word artists who wanted to enhance their performances.
I've worked with dancers and choregraphers in order to add a storyline and plot to their recitals.
I've worked with students who use the art as a form of therapy in cases of anger management.
I've worked with independent actors and directors who want to specifically work on pieces in a play that they struggle relating with their characters on.
Make sure you choose a teacher who you feel you can absolutely learn to feel comfortable trusting.
