Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess them via what I have been told as far as their level is concerned. Dependent on the purpose (i.e. competition, class, recital, group numbers, master classes, etc.) We take it from there, I often just turn on some music to get them moving and go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.F.A. in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Dance & Choreography from Illinois Wesleyan University
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Group Master Classes
$200-$400 For a 2 hour master class, dependent on class size (if the group is 15+ the price errs on the side of the maximum price)
Privates
$75/hr
Choreography
$500-$1000 (Dependent on how much and the project. On a case by case basis)
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when I was in college. During the breaks and summer months I would go back to my high school and continue choreographing and teaching as well as in college, teaching classes to the musical theatre students to get them better acquainted with a different genre of dance.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be open, and get ready to have fun! I am a patient teacher and I am all about the student and making sure they feel comfortable.
