Former students are playing all around the globe. Former band members and students with "Grammy Awards". Presently employed for 5 years now by the "Florida Youth Orchestra", "Steps "Program". Actively performing with the "Remix Band" up and down Florida, out of state, and out of the country for 10 1/2 years. I get to observe growth, maturity, and my big "D" word...."discipline", being utilized in all aspects of the students lives, in addition to having a friendly relationship.
To Whom It May Concern, By reading this, I assume you are considering Eddie Mejia as a drum instructor for your son, daughter, or class. With that, I can only give Eddie the highest recommendation possible. Eddie has been Matthew's, (my son), drum teacher since 2008. Matthew was in the 5th grade and allowed interest in learning to play the drums. Eddie came highly recommended so we began lessons With him. Those lessons were once a week until 2013 and then went to twice a month. Eddie consistently maintained professionalism. He was always on time for each lesson and punctual with ending time. In the rare occasion where weather or traffic held him up, we could ount on Eddie to notify us. Eddie's teaching style was well rounded. Matthew not only learned the drums and percussion but also different genres. Eddie is an encourager and gives credit when due; however, he gives corrective criticism when necessary. He held Matthew accountable with his homework practice as expected. Matthew respected Eddie as a teacher and friend and looked forward to each lesson. Because the lessons were so frequent, we got to know Eddie a little. He loves the Lord and carries that passion wherever he teaches or plays. l wholeheartedly believe that he lives out his commitment in all aspects of his life as I hear him talk about his jobs and most importantly his family. He is a committed husband and father. For several years now, Matthew has been the drummer for our church's worship team where we IS viewed as a capable asset- I attribute this ability and focus not only to Matthew's character but also to the way Eddie taught Matthew. The only reason we are ending these lessons is due to college and limited time now. We realize this season is finished and we are sad to say "so long" to Eddie Mejia. He has been a jewel in our life and I'm sure he is unaware of that.
Eddie teaches without too harsh criticism. He is patient with beginners. I felt his advice was perfect for me.
