I am passionate and excited about what I do.
I instill a sense of confidence, direction and focus in my students that helps keep them motivated and on track to be successful in achieving their goals.
My student’s goals are my goals.
I am originally from the vibrant and effervescent city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’ve studied dance and performance under some of the most prestigious and globally known instructors. I have performed in Brazil and in many national productions such as A Chorus Line (Diana) and the Rocky Horror Picture Show (Columbia). I came to the USA and made my international debut as an aerialist and dancer with the famous Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus. Here in Orlando, I performed at Arabian Nights as a stunt rider and Pirates Adventure as a featured aerialist and soloist. My artistic and professional vision has allowed me to bring many shows to life as choreographer for many regional productions such as The Producers, RENT, The Jungle Book, Crazy for You, 42nd Street, Adam’s Family and Anything Goes.
I love the process of teaching and watching students grow, both technically and personally.
I love the different personality types and challenges to push each student individually to be the best they can be.
I have been taking the adult aerial class for almost a year now at JLAADA. Working with Joyce has been both challenging and rewarding. Through her teachings I have developed more strength and confidence both in and outside of the studio. Joyce finds the strengths and weaknesses in each one of her students and works with them to grow and develop their skills to their fullest potential. She is motivating, patient and kind. Her passion for teaching is demonstrated everyday in her students. When you see the progression of your skills develop it makes you grateful you came to JLAADA.
My daughter has been taking classes and lessons at JLAADA for several years (tap, musical theatre dance, aerial silks and hoop), and we couldn't be more pleased with her progress, and the skills she has developed working with Joyce Lemos. Joyce is an experienced and talented performer, with unparalleled knowledge of a variety of dance and aerial styles and techniques, as well as a thoughtful, caring teacher. She is masterful in bringing out and building upon the strengths and talents of each student, while at the same time encouraging the development of students' as-yet untapped skills. Joyce views each of her students as individuals, and recognizes the unique abilities of each, and she fosters a sense of community and mutual support among them all. She has been a teacher and mentor for our daughter, who has improved not only as a dancer and aerialist, but also as a performer.
Joyce is an excellent dance and aerial instructor! In addition to being very knowledgeable, she has a great personality, is positive, patient and makes the lessons fun! To anyone looking for a dance or aerial teacher, Joyce is a perfect choice!
