Cliff Lawson has been a PGA member since 1981. He has held positions as General Manager, Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional at properties in Florida, Arizona, Colorado and Hawaii, with the majority of his time being devoted to teaching. His credentials also include having served as Senior VP and Director of Instruction for the world-renowned John Jacobs' Golf Schools and Head Instructor for the Golf Digest Schools. During his tenure in this capacity, Cliff opened and developed school locations at more than two dozen properties throughout the U.S. and oversaw a staff of more than 100 teaching professionals.
Over the course of his career, Cliff has written more than 50 instruction articles that have appeared in leading golf publications and various periodicals. His broad range of accomplishments resulted in him being named as one of "America's Best Teachers" by Golf Digest in 2002, and
ranked among the Top 5 Instructors in the state of Nevada for six consecutive years.
Cliff has been affiliated with Jensen Beach Golf Club since 2014. He is licensed with V1 Sports and operates his "Branded Academy", which includes video analysis with graphics and voiceover in all of his lesson packages. His extensive knowledge of the golf swing, combined with his simple teaching philosophy, has enabled Cliff’s students to see significant improvement under his direction.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Complimentary video analysis, which allows students to better understand their swing tendancies, as well as my ability to convey those concerns and what will be worked on should the student retain my services.

$100 per hour
6 Hr. Package with 6th lesson at half price ($550) and 2nd student at no additional cost)
All instruction includes V-1 Video w/ progress comparisons emailed to student(s).
How did you get started teaching?
Played throughout high school and college and turned professional at 22 years old. Played competitively, while pursuing PGA school, where I began teaching in 1978.
What types of students have you worked with?
PGA Tour Players, Professional Athletes, Celebrities, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Golfers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Patriot Golf Day - Is an annual event conducted by the PGA and offered at golf facilities throught the United States. All proceeds are to benefit the Wounded Warrior Program.
As a long-time PGA member, I am proud to be a part of an organization that offers this and other programs to veterans, junior golfers and those who are less fortunate.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is all about the teachers knowledge of the golf swing and his ability to convey it in a way the student understands.
This is why I offer free video analysis to all potential students. It allows them to see what their swing problems are, while getting a chance to test my communication skills and personality.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Insist on a simplified, not complicating approach from your instructor.
Consider physical limitations, if any, before making a determination.
Set realistic goals and focus on areas that require most improvement.
Find a teacher that you are 100% confident in.
