Shaun Rice Musical Theatre Lessons
About
I am a member or Actors Equity. And have been performing since I was 10 years old. I have toured the US and Asia performing for the past 8 years in various Broadway tours. I also gave a background in education and a passion for directing.
I have always had a passion for theatre and am excited to be able to share it with those learning the techniques needed to give a believable performance both in musical and straight theatre. Theres nothing more that I like to see than when students start to find the confidence in making bold choices on their own.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I will asses a student's skill level by having them perform a piece that they have already prepared. From there we work on perfecting the piece by focusing on techniques necessary for musical theatre acting. Eventually we move into working with new material from start to finish.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended AMDA - the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City. I also attended USF's Theatre a education program. I have over 10 years of practical professional theatre experience in both acting and directing.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had an eye for direction and instruction. I would always be the friend that people came to to help them then stage audition pieces.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked mostly w younger actors from Middle School to high school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who has actual on stage experience. They should be able to help you find a journey through a song or monologue and give you techniques for giving the same strong performance every time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is theatre something they want to persue professionally or more as a fun hobby? How do you approach a song or monolog's journey? Do you use specific actions to help you traverse the song?
