Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to see what level they are at and then ask them what they would like to get out of lessons. I then develop a plan specific to that student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have almost 40 years of experience playing and teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I believe that everyone should learn how to play at a high level and should not be limited because of cost. That is why I keep my prices below the average. Normally $30 per 1 hour lesson and lower costs if paying for multiple lessons up front. And i give semi private lessons at $20 per student per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching my own kids and then their friends wanted to learn and it took off from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have coached all ages and skill levels. I always customize my lessons to the student. I do not believe that one swing fits all.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I saw a young man playing with his Dad. Neither one of them knew how to play. So I asked them if they wanted the son to learn the right way to play tennis. I started working with this young man at no cost and he blossomed extremely fast and fell in love with the game.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Any student should be open and honest with what they want to get out of lessons and should improve. If you are not getting better, you should find another coach.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is important to have an idea of expectations and those expectations can change . Make sure to express what you want.
