Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We discuss what the student is looking to learn and tailor a plan to meet those goals.
This may also involve some practice dancing to review the starting point we work from.
We also go over exercises and patterns that they can practice between instruction sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified as a dance instructor by the Golden State Dance Teachers Association.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
A minimum of 1 hour sessions. Our normal rate is $75 per hour, discounted for Lessons.com to $55 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
My first training session in California led to many friends in the dance scene wanting to learn what I was doing that was so different from the local scene. On my subsequent trips I focused on the teaching aspects of training.
What types of students have you worked with?
Range in age from 14 up through their 70's.
I also teach chess locally in some schools and privately. Most of these students are k-5th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My wife and I run an event in Jupiter ofr West Coast Swing. The instructional team we bring together is second to none and their ability to make our students and guests feel special in dance is unsurpassed.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are new to the dance scene, you might want to look for group calsses in your chosen dance. This will allow you to meet and test a relationship with the instructor before investing in private lessons.
