With a lengthy history in Metro Atlanta, I've been deeply involved in performing and teaching acting. Many of my/our students have achieved local, national, and international success. I have been active in film and theater and international arts exchange for over two decades, and in stand-up comedy since 2015. My expertise lies in helping actors prepare for roles, and auditions and guiding career development. Over the past decade, I've received multiple grants and awards, including Creative Loafing's Best Actor, Nexus/Andy Warhol Foundation Grant, Idea Capital, and most recently an Alternate Roots Artistic Development Award. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1) 15-minute call or meet & greet to discuss short, medium and long-term goals, work history, any obstacles and desired outcomes. Possibly touch on relevant opportunities and possibilities for the student.
2) Prioritize 1-3 objectives to achieve over a certain amount of time, and work with the individual to develop an actionable timeline for these goals. Or we can decide just to play around with a few exercises and take it from there.
3) Establish workout preferences and work with the individual to achieve some objectives within the timeline, unless ongoing work is established as a priority. Through my vast connections in the industry, I also work consistently to connect students to other opportunities to advance their career. I am also happy to just take it slow and do scene study with the student until a desired outcome emerges for them in the ongoing work. It is no problem if people want to test the waters to see if this is a hobby or career pursuit that is right for them.

20+ years performing on stage and on screen in Atlanta and beyond.
18 years running my own non-profit performance and education company.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have a $38 minimum per hour and am open to payment arrangements to fit any budget. The final hourly rate will depend on the scope of work and how often we meet if more than once. One time fee is $45 per hourly session.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been teaching since I graduated from college. I've always loved sharing my knowledge.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all ages, from 4-84. Everyone has different needs and wants. I try to tailor my work to each individual.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My most recent (and related) "event" was finishing the Netflix Series "Ozark" and seeing all of the wonderful Georgia actors on the show, many of whom I've worked with.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be as clear as you can be about your goals - even if it is just to play for a while. Then back up from there and vet several teachers to see which one fits your needs. I highly recommend a phone call or an in-person chat to develop a connection. Be very aware of scams and people that have lofty claims. Our industry is full of this kind of thing right now. It can waste your time and your money. Try to establish an honest connection with your teacher based on your goals and level of experience.
