Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before we get on the kit I talk with the student about their goals and aspirations as a musician, experience, what their favorite types of music are, just basically getting to know the student. From there we will decide together on where to start (everyone is different!)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied one on one with Mark Guiliana and Dan Weiss, and have been playing drums for over 16 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
100$ for 90 minutes / sliding scale
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching with the Songs for Kids foundations (based in downtown Atlanta). They are a great charity organization that works with special needs children.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners and interemediate students, and i have mentored students that have gone on to study music in college (specifically Belmont University in Nashville)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If anyone tells you there is one way and only one way to do something, you need to stay away from them.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your favorite type of music, who are your favorite players, how often are you going to be willing / able to practice on your own (and what barriers there might be).
