About this pro

I show people, ages 12-90,  how to reach down deep inside themselves and bring out their unique creative talents. Sewing,  Art , and Crafts are  self-expressions of emotions, creativity, a need to have challenges . They are how we see what is all around us and how  TRUE ART comes in MULTIPLE forms of passionate expression.

Monet’s painting style is a perfect example of that "impression". This is why one of my  favorite art styles is Impressionism. The “viewer” has the opportunity to “FEEL” and “Experience “ every aspect of the painting. I have plenty of brushes , sketch pencils, and paint, etc. “to share” for First Lesson” so you don’t need anything except 140lb. Weight paper, your hands, and your individual “creative “ soul! Sewing and Crafts, like jewelry making, are just additional forms of that same expression of a creative passion.

What I enjoy most is showing others ANYTHING you create whether it be painting, drawing, sewing, or crafting EVERYONE has a GIFT for something. When a person discovers that "gift" and I see that "light shining" from inside THAT is the reward that is priceless. I love teaching sewing to men because of the excitement that I see and hear when they realize it is NOT just something for women to do. I love teaching women sewing because it stretches their imagination, creativity, and gives a bigger sense of independence. Just KNOWING how to make something in the color and style YOU want but can't find on a sales rack in any store or online is a sense of CONQUEST and Control that is so fulfilling there can be NO price tag put on it. Making different crafts, like jewelry making, has so MANY materials and tools, colors that there is NO LIMIT to the possibilities and potential one of a kind gift a person can make for a special person in their life. Challenging yourself to learn is more rewarding than anyone can imagine, until you "TRY" IT. Seeing, first hand, a student being challenged and being successful and getting excited about doing MORE of what I teach is truly a blessing and why I love doing what I do by being that ",mentor". Not for my glory but for God's Glory to show others how to create and bring joy to themselves as well as others.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I ask what their expectations are, what goal. Second, if the person has samples of their work I ask to see them. After viewing their works I make an assessment of their particular “art style”. If the person just wants to “start”drawing or painting I ask that they do a quick sketch of something, their choice and assess what the next step will be. Finally I ask “WHY” the person wants to learn the craft of being an artist.

For students aspiring to sew, I ask their level of experience and tailor lessons accordingly. From how to read and follow a pattern, taking measurements, fabric types, hand stitches, all the basics and up to advanced sewing, including embroidery.

For the students wanting to learn crafting? The sky is the limit! From to resin molds, polymer clay, and all kinds of beaded jewelry making and including crystal and natural stone designs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been an artist, seamstress, and crafter  for over 45 years with Realism and Impressionistic and Characature background, alterations and clothing design,. Selling my art pieces at Art Festival, Consignment, and many Commissioned works by private individuals. I have paintings, my originals, spanning feom east coast to the west coast. My art pieces are displayed in private homes in Utah, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Delaware, just to name a few.

I have been contracted by area clothing designers to make fashion expo pieces and personally designed ",Period Wedding Dresses" (Antique design, Retro, "Turn of Century Style". I especially excel in formal "embellishments" for individuals as well
