Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We invite new students to come in, meet our staff, take a tour of our facilty, and be assessed for appropriate class placement. Our program offers several genres on multiple levels, and we want to make sure our students are in the best class for their artistic needs and growth/development.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have a highly trained and talented artistic staff. We invite you to visit our website at www.ppacdance.com to review our staff profiles and discover the rich backgrounds our staff has in dance arts training, performance and education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At Price Performing Arts Center, we charge an annual registration fee for each dance season ranging from $25-$40 and montly fees for class tuition beginning at $70 and up, dependent upon the number of classes the student registers for and age of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I personally began instructing as a student teacher at the studio where I grew up and trained in the art of tap. From there, I enhanced my training and skills through my high school performing arts program and other arts training programs in Alabama, Los Angeles, New York and Florida.
What types of students have you worked with?
I personally have worked with students of all ages from 3 years through adult, all ethnic backgrounds and various skill levels...from the beginner to the advanced.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have produced several productions through my studio Price Performing Arts Center, but I am recently proud of our original holiday production, "Prima's Winter Wonderland", that we premiered for our inaugural performance in December, 2016. It was a wonderful production presented through theater, music and dance arts!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student who is looking to hire a dance instructor to look for a program that offers the genre of dance you aspire to learn, with at least 5 years experience and thoroughly research their services/programs and compare with at least 3-5 other programs before making a final decision.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about and decide exactly what they desire to learn and what are their short term artistic goals. They should also decide if they are serious about their commitment to training, and whether or not they are going to be able to be dedicated and consistent to their classes and curriculum of study.
