The Dance Remedy
About
My dance teaching experience ranges from creative movement with students who are 18mos, to confidence building Femme classes for women through age 50. I am also a fitness instructor and Zumba certified, and no matter the genre of dance or the age of the student, I take pride in pushing them to their full potential, in a positive manner. I love dance, and I want my students to love it too!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with Q & A. Presenting questions such as "Is this your first lesson? First time trying this style of dance? What do you want learn or get out of this class/lesson? Who is your favorite singer, dancer?" allows me to get a feel of the individual and what they may be seeking in my class. I answer these questions for them as well, so that they see me as a fellow arts lover just like they are/will be, and not just a teacher.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
During my Christmas showcase, one of my students began crying right before she hit the stage, and I thought something was wrong. I kneeled down to ask if she was ok bc it was her time to shine with her peers. She whipped her eyes and said, "Nothing is wrong Ms. Re'Kenya. I'm just really happy!" That warmed me with satisfaction.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know what it is that you want to get out of your lessons. Work hard and be determined in your dance journey. Hire me because I care enough to work hard with you, and for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want to accomplish, and how much time do I have to accomplish that goal?
