DANCE & VOICE BIO:
Duntenia Fitts was born in Los Angeles, California but moved to Rochester, New York at 6 months old. She is the youngest of 4 siblings. Duntenia was raised mostly by her mom who kept her very involved in extra -curricular activities be it in the church singing or a dance group called “Dance Patrol” performing all over Rochester with performances specializing in Jazz, Hip-Hop , Rhythm and Movement, and African Dance. Duntenia also attended the “Hochstein School of Music” where she first fell in love with ballet and tap. The arts have always been a part of her life.. At the age of 14 she was excepted into the School of the Arts in Rochester, N.Y.,for high school where she majored in classical voice and minored in dance where she continued to strengthen her talents with more intense techniques from great teachers , she even has taken instruction from the great Garth Fagan (founder of “Garth Fagan” dance school and whom also performed for Fidel Castro for his inauguration in 1959) who frequently taught dance classes at School of the Arts and Janice Alexander was her voice teacher whose daughter is the great opera singer Rene Fleming who just recently sung the National Anthem in the Super-Bowl and sings all over the world professionally. This young lady (Duntenia) has taught dance and assisted dance teachers since she was 16 years old from churches, schools or just volunteering. Ms. Fitts enjoys going back to Rochester,N.Y. helping to assist at her High School when she gets a chance and also at Dunwoody Dance 5678 to assist one of her mentors and closest friends Andre Dunwoody. Duntenia is excited to become a part of the Creative Movement and Dance family and hopes to not only inspire the twinkle toes she’ll be teaching but to grow with the company as well!!
