Cello Lessons
About
Beyond learning an instrument, music lessons help people become better versions of themselves. My job as a teacher is to help students learn how to problem solve, to give them a fundamental understanding of how to listen to, observe, and direct their bodies, and most importantly to set goals and follow through on them. My highest priority in teaching is to be sure lessons are serving the whole person, not just imparting specialized skills.
I love watching students grow in both physical and mental ability and I love being there to help them navigate crises of confidence. I love when students make connections between the things we work on and issues they have in their other studies or work.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After assessing the experience of the student and getting to understand a little bit about their goals, I tailor our lessons to each individual student. I strive to help students find joy in overcoming physical and mental blocks through self-discipline and self awareness. I always encourage an open dialogue and bringing their interests into our lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold degrees from The Juilliard School and San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have worked as a performing cellist for 20 years, performing all over the world and in many different styles. My focus for the last 10 years has been in early music and I also play, perform and teach Baroque Cello and Viola da Gamba.
