Play, hit & play some more!!! The point of tennis is to get those shots over, in & score on your opponent! So no better way than to do that with constant hitting and instructing along the way. The best way to learn is repetition. Being around people who are as passionate for the same sport will bring out the best in you and your game. You’ll achieve personal heights with gaining even more appreciation for tennis. Seeing a student elevate their confidence and individual skill level makes you never want to quit teaching the most wonderful sport in the world!...

I grew up playing tennis since 5 years old. I would play 3 times a day. Crack of dawn, after lunch and then right before dark. If I couldn't find anyone to play with I would practice serves with dozens of balls and then hit agains a wall. I would not mind losing because I always want to play people better than me so I can learn from my mistakes and hopefully play up to my competition. Practice, practice, practice so you can pull shots off from many experience just when you need it in a match. I competed in regional junior. Was number one and captain of high school tennis team. Play Club Team in college at Northwestern....

I've had private lessons before with other pros but George exceeded all expectations . His attitude and obvious love of the game are exemplary. He is a demanding perfectionist and by all means not a clock watcher. Thanks to George’s serve drill my serve game finally produced results . I highly recommend him to anyone. " Read more

I care about each student more than I do myself. I coach the only way I know how: As my coach taught me. He created me from scratch, 8 years too late and in just 6 months time. An absolutely mind-blowing achievement to say the least. Also, a brilliant story to tell...just not at all relevant to my coaching. The second he became my coach, I became this coach. Naturally I have it in me, yes...but don't a lot of people? Through his eyes, his words and his genius mentality I obsessively watched hundreds of kids transform on and off the court because of my coach. I didn't know this for quite some time but when I wasn't playing, I was studyi...

Chose from over 10,000 instructors nationwide on Lessons.com and take your first lesson today!

Whether you're new to tennis or a seasoned pro, taking tennis lessons can be fun and educational. Almost anyone can improve their game by taking tennis lessons. Find an instructor through lessons.com, and you may master a skill that you will continue to enjoy for the rest of your life. Many people who take tennis up as a hobby believe that playing tennis involves innate skills that you either have or don't have. Nothing could be further from the truth! Tennis skills can improve with time, practice and professional lessons, just like other forms of exercise.

Beginners sometimes get frustrated and give up because they are not yet proficient at skills like serving and returning serves. They also may not be aware of the type of skills they need to succeed. Different strokes, different levels of strength and a variety of techniques must be mastered to enjoy playing the game.More experienced players may also benefit from lessons, even if they've already mastered the basics. Learning advanced techniques can help score points and improve enjoyment of the game. These players can benefit from one-on-one instruction that allows them to concentrate on their unique strengths and weaknesses and improve their skills.

There are three different types of tennis lessons you can consider:

  • Group lessons are great for beginners. Novice players can benefit from taking lessons together. Students often take turns practicing skills and can learn from one another, as well as from the instructor. Learning in a group also helps students become familiar with game play, rules, scoring and techniques.
  • One-on-one lessons are helpful for more advanced students. Once students master the basics, they may want to take private lessons, in addition to attending advanced group classes. One-on-one lessons are the best way to strengthen skills, as they allow students to set and achieve personal goals.
  • Specialized lessons are great for kids and people with special needs. It takes a special instructor to develop rapport with children or with adults who have special needs. These instructors adapt lessons appropriately for groups or individuals with particular needs.

Lessons.com is the best place to find individual and group tennis instructors. Instructors sign up and create a profile, while students search for instructors by zip code, then email teachers of their interest through our site and pay up front for their lessons.

Lessons.com offers a variety of fully qualified instructors, which helps students find the right tennis instructor for them. Instructors don't pay a fee to be listed on our site, and students don't pay until they're confident that they want to book a lesson with a particular teacher.

No matter what your level of expertise or what skills you want to learn, you can find the right tennis instructor for you on Lessons.com. You can search by type of teacher, affordability and other factors. Use our free search engine to find and read detailed teacher profiles, then click to email instructors and learn more about their backgrounds and the types of lessons they offer before making your decision.

He can be tough and has high expectations. We do drills and sometime play points. Sometimes he has me run ladders. Overall I think I improved a lot since I started taking lessons with him.

I've mostly been satisfied with my groundstrokes, but I needed a lot of work on my serve and volley game. George was very helpful, patient, and insightful! I feel like my game has improved tremendously from George's advice.
