Hello! My name is Charlie O'Neill, and I am a 20 year old drummer from Chicago. I have been playing drums for nearly my whole life, with formal training for over 10 years. My primary focus is jazz drumset, however I have experience playing a wide array of genres such as rock and funk, as well as classical percussion. I have studied at various music conservatories and programs such as the Merit School of Music, Ravinia Jazz Scholars Program, Jamey Aebersold Jazz Camp, and Depaul University's school of music where I am currently enrolled in the jazz program. My 42-year-old school the Bloom School of Jazz has taught thousands of musicians from around the world. Amateurs to seasoned musicians have come here to up there game. I have my own teaching methods that are different that what is normally taught. I teach music as a language. I normally do a 30-minute evaluation to make sure that we are a good fit for each other. In the evaluation, I check out your theory knowledge, technique, ear and improvisation. My biggest enjoyment is to help students find the music that lurks within, and show them how to bring it out....
