About this pro

Drum Impact in Chicago on Chicago Ave features an incredible studio setup where you and I play simultaneously to review the concepts and questions discussed through learning.

if meditation is yoga in motion; then drumming is meditation and yoga with Noise!  Joyful expression of this noise and the human rhythm machine is what we will discover together in a suportive environment.

I have been teaching for 28 years, playing for 38 years and have been in bands for 35 years.  I love sharing my experiences and I look forward to hearing about Yours!

The hour you pay for to learn is our hour and we will spend the time according to  Your interests, skill set, and individual journey.

I facilitate human potential through Rhythm!

I love to pass on the joy one derives from music - hearing it, understanding the concepts and reacting in the moment to life's always changing tapestry.  We will review how the brain works, your interests, your life story and we will use drumming as a metaphor for all of life.   You will find your joy again with Drum Impact as your guide in the rhythm of life!

I found Eric through Lessons.com. I am an adult student with no previous musical experience. Realizing this, Eric has been able to teach me by adapting his teaching style to be more in tune with my level of knowledge. As a result, I have made significant progress in over a year. Eric is not only a great teacher, but he is also a compassionate human who knows how to balance the lessons with other aspects of life, and he does a great job of making music and life go together. I highly recommend Eric for any level of drummer, from beginner to John Freaking Bonham.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I want to facilitate your potential using RHYTHM and drumming.  We will spend time to review Goals and set you up for SUCCESS on the level you wish to achieve - from professional touring player; to weekend warrior, prep for school; private lessons to relieve stress and experience something new and FUN!

This time is all about YOU and how you want to spend your time!!!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

my learning has been for more than 40 years of playing, performing and teaching music and communicating.  University learning?

Yes! DePaul University here in Chicago  and Iowa State (BA in communications), I have played more than 1000 gigs in my life and have taught hundreds of people along their personal paths.

My joy is seeing the spirit of other people grow as they experience drumming as something they know, but want more ways to express inner JOY.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Listening Skills are KEY to life, music and the enjoyment of music!  Your homework will consist of learning beats, rudiments, and how to hold a groove - by LISTENING to the great drummers of the past and the present.
