About
Faubourg School of Ballet is a private ballet school located in suburban Chicago, Illinois. In 1990 its Artistic Director, Mr. Watmora Casey took over the 35 year old school known at the time as the Academy of Dance, whose founder Maggie Shirley was at her retirement. Maggie had a dream of reaching into the community by making performing arts available to all who had desire to express themselves through art.
Mr. Casey continued her legacy and began his quest to building professionally trained dancers by developing strong individuals with solid fundamental ballet technique, as well as profound comprehension of contemporary dance.
Faubourg School of Ballet in conjunction with Faubourg Ballet Theatre and Ballet Camp Illinois works towards raising awareness of the needs of children of all layers of society. The school is dedicated to developing strong and resilient individuals by giving physical and mental tools to its dancers, as well as the less fortunate children of the community. It gives a chance to all its children to express themselves through art and with positive encouragement unlocks their potential, while holding them accountable for their work and achievements. Faubourg School of Ballet is committed to serving the community by making a small difference in each child’s life, serving their needs for food, water, education and art.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The typical process for working with a new student is to set up an audition for level placement. (Beginner, Intermediate or Advance)
From there, the student will be place and scheduled with the appropriate level and instructor.

Mr. Watmora Casey has over twenty years of experience. His outstanding professional reputation within the dance community comes from the notable success and enthusiasm of his students.
Using a unique blend of enthusiasm, a lively, charismatic approach, and rigorous intensive teaching methods, he has produced dancers who have gone on to dance with Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, Kirov Ballet (Washington, D.C.), Pennsylvania Ballet, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Harid Conservatory, American Ballet Theatre, Miami Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Oklahoma Ballet, Ballet West, Dutch National Opera and Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet to name a few and more.
