My name is Mike Dato and I attended Oswego high school where I played baseball all 4 years mainly catching and corner infield. I was apart of one of the most winning teams in school history my senior year but fell short in Regionals. I then decided to commit to Monmouth College to study Exercise Science and play under Coach Betourne for the Fighting Scots Baseball Team. Just like every freshman I learned a lot and ended up earning a starting position my sophomore year as a designated hitter. It was at this point in my career where I knew I was embarking on something great. I finished that year batting just over .320 with 8 home runs and 39

PLEASE EMAIL OR TEXT DIRECTLY! (This site is glitchy and sometimes leads are not forwarded) Thank you! [email protected] or 773-850-4036 I have been training ballplayers ever since I finished playing professionally in 2015. I take passion in making practice fun and I pride myself in teaching by example. I always emphasize the meaning of being a student-athlete, which means you are a STUDENT before you are an athlete. My favorite part of my profession is receiving texts/calls from parents & students telling me that they hit their first homerun or that they made their high school baseball team for the first time! Hi I am a varsity assistant baseball coach at a high school in the north suburbs of Chicago. I operate out of the west suburbs. Been a coach for 25 yrs and been working with youth in lessons specifically for the last 5-6 yrs. My goal is to make baseball better by improving my clients to be the best they can be. My rates are reasonable cause this isn’t all about money but at the same time I need to be compensated for my time. I work outside at parks the majority of my time but can move inside with client purchased cage time in the cold months. Reach out if interested.

As a former collegiate and professional baseball player my experiences drove me to share my love for not only baseball but learning, growing and developing. I have been instructing since 2013 and I recently ended my playing career where I then served as a volunteer assistant coach at New Mexico State University. While there, I was responsible for the development of the hitters and infielders. My opportunity at NMSU led me to work with one of the top collegiate bats in the country who ended up being a top 10 pick in the 2020 MLB amateur player draft and opened the door to me working with a handful of MLB players as well as top collegiate playe...

Maria B. says, "Jim and his son, JB, are a great teaching team. Just what my 11 year old son needs to advance in skill level. They are very knowledgeable about how best to train players that are ages 10-13, which is an age range that can be hard to find experienced coaches for. We are already seeing the results payoff at games with more confidence and more hits at the plate for our son. We look forward to continuing private training with JBW Baseball!" Read more

Twenty years plus I have trained baseball and softball athletes. Mostly between 12 and 16 u levels. Specializing in training and developing hitting skills. There is a lot of moving parts in developing an average hitter into a good hitter, good hitting into a elite hitter. The athlete must understand the core basics of hitting. SET, LOAD, SWING MECHANICS, BALANCE AND FINISH. Then the secret becomes communicating with the athlete on how to apply the basic mechanics to his or her approach to hitting. This is were the difference comes in. Though practice, repetition and good old hard work and athlete can improve their skills which will result in

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Jim is a great coach. Our son is 9 (almost 10) and plays travel ball. He really needed some guidance/reinforcement to ensure he has good batting technique and how to overcome his fear at the plate. Our son also wanted to work on his pitching and catching - so Jim worked with him on both of those positions as well - not only good mechanisms (e.g. for pitching) but also ways to move while catching, throws to 2nd, 3rd, etc. Jim's 13 yo son came with him, which I think was a nice addition - tips from a kid to a kid, and allowed my son to have a target to throw to while the coach could coach. Very pleased with Jim's coaching style - very patient, likes to assess a child's ability first and then refine, and very positive. We will definitely work with Jim again.

Zack Teske is one of kind on Training and Coaching. He has a lot of talent and knowledge on how to work with any age group. The way he relates, connects with each player and gets them to understand what he’s asking from them is amazing. Zack has been working with my son for the past 4 years and you can see his improvement every season. I highly recommend Zack if you want to improve on your baseball skills.
