Dance Lessons

About

I use the training in classical ballet and modern dance techniques I received as a ballet major University of North Carolina School of the Arts as the groundwork to teach and coach in a variety of dance disciplines.

I trained at UNCSA for 5 years, and have taught classes ranging from group ballet and pointe classes for ages 8-18, adult ballet classes for a mix of beginner and advanced students, and private lessons in ballet and pointe.

I love being able to help dancers of all ages pursue their passion, and seeing the satisfaction that comes with finally mastering a difficult step, as well as the general joy of being able to do what you love.

Frequently asked questions

I like to begin with simple barre or warmup combinations to get a feel for where the student is technically, and start by strengthening any foundational weaknesses and progressing to more artistic development as the basic technique improves and strength is built.

I've been taking dance since the age of 4, and I've had a wide range of classes and styles, from ballet and pointe to training in modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, and musical theater dance. Most of my training has been in the American Ballet Theater style, but I've also had experience with Balanchine and Vaganova techniques.

I began by substituting in at my home studio when I was home on break from school at UNCSA, and found that I loved being able to help other young dancers in the same way that other teachers had helped me.

Young dancers ages 11-18 with minimal-moderate training, and adults ranging from absolute beginners to former professional dancers.

I recently was part of the cast of a new ballet by Susan Jaffe, Dean of UNCSA School of Dance, and the entire choreographic process was a wonderful experience in my development as an artist and dancer.
