We are The Biz, Academy of Musical Theatre. Our mission statement is: Developing and empowering young actors, singers, and dancers in Hendricks County and beyond.
We offer dance and acting classes, as well as private voice and piano lessons. We also offer theatre camps in the summer, as well as dance intensive workshops.
We also do five youth musicals a year, using kids ages 6-18. Once a year, we try to offer an opportunity to travel, either to Atlanta, GA for the National Junior Theatre Festival in January, or a trip to New York City.
The Biz is owned by, Jeff and Jan Van Paris, who have a combined total of over 45 years of elementary teaching experience in the Hendricks County public schools.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet and discuss individual needs, goals for the lesson/session with no commitment for future lessons until the stdent makes that decision.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors Degree in Musical Theatre.

Taught summer programs at the Theatre School I trained at in London.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know what you want to get out of your lessons. Improve technique, increase reportoire, coaching or preparing for a specific audition/competition.
