I started learning to play the guitar in my mid 60’s and I’ve had two other instructors prior to my meeting with Pha Roah. I came across home while searching on-line at www.tsma.fun for a new instructor. My first contact with him was by phone, and after a brief conversation, I immediately felt that he was the right instructor for me. Although I felt this way, I still wanted to meet with him in person to satisfy my curiosity about his knowledge and experience of guitars, playing/teaching of guitars, and music in general. I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Ian for a few months now, and I love the steady progress that I’ve been making. Ian is very methodical in his 1-on-1 sessions, and he doesn’t let me move on until I’ve mastered a prior lesson. I like how he emphasizes timing and music theory. I also like how he balances teaching songs that I want to play while also learning from lesson books and other material. I started off doing his in-home lessons. However, due to the pandemic I switched to his virtual offerings, and I have to say that the transition has been mostly seamless.
