About
I started percussion lessons at age nine and never looked back- there was never a question that performing and teaching drums would be my future. I began playing professionally at age 15, and started teaching privately around 16. In 1994 I graduated from the MusicTech school in Minneapolis, and spent the following twenty plus years performing all styles of music and building a successful teaching business. Around five years ago I moved to Baton Rouge, where I continue to keep a very active teaching and gigging schedule. Music and drumming are my passion- I feel like any opportunity to lend direction to an aspiring percussionist, or perform with some of the amazing musicians here in BR are true blessings!
- currently I'm accepting students of all ages- beginner to advanced
- I teach concert and marching percussion (rudimental studies and mallets), and most anything drumset- all styles and genres, as well as technique/limb independence, fill/solo building studies, beginning to advanced rhythm reading and composition, odd time signature reading and grooves, and MUCH more!
- Over the last 26 years I've developed my own curriculum to teach from, so my students don't need to invest in expensive learning materials.
- Low hourly rates- students are able to pay per lesson instead of shelling out for the month, or purchasing X number of lessons at one time.
- My studio is conveniently located in the E Baton Rouge area.
- I offer a free introductory lesson so that students and I can meet, discuss discuss their specific needs and goals, and they can get a taste of my teaching style.
