About

Brian is so excited to begin this new chapter as Artistic Director of Backstage Repertory Company. After teaching and directing Theatre in Massachusetts for 23 years and accumulating directorial credits for over 50 productions working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade, Brian spent the past 2 years as Dean of the Arts at an Arts Charter school in Rhode Island. Graduating with a BA in in Theatre from Bridgewater State University in 1991, Brian launched into professional acting. Between “gigs” he volunteered at a small Catholic school in Milton developing and implementing a theatre program for their middle school students. It was at this school that he discovered his passion for education. He was hired as a full-time Phys. Ed teacher and director of the extra-curricular theatre program. This was a formative experience as Brian witnessed firsthand the transformative role of the fine and performing arts in helping students of all ages achieve new heights in their education experience. Besides all of the stage and education work, Brian has had some opportunities to screen work appearing in such films as “Joy” starring Jennifer Lawrence. Brian holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University, is certified as teacher of Theatre Arts & Communications and holds certifications in School Administration for the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Departments of Education. Brian resides in Franklin with his wife Amy and their three children.
