What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. Customized To You
Private dance lessons focus solely on YOU. Once the teacher gets to know you and identifies your goals he/she will teach you the material that will be most appropriate for your needs in the most appropriate order. If your goal is to master social dancing your teacher will make sure you know how to lead/follow, how to navigate the floor. How to improvise. Your lessons will change and adapt to what your needs are. Everyone has different goals, body types and learning styles. Private dance lessons will take those things into account and customize the lessons for you.
Private dance lessons are typically taught one-to-one or two-to-one. This way your teacher has much more time to work with you individually, which will lead to faster progress. Your “problem areas” can be addressed by giving you specific exercises to improve them. During your private dance lesson you will have the time to analyze music, lead, embrace, foot position, amount of rotation and a lot more. The amount of detail and technique your teacher can dive into in a private lesson is much greater than that of a group class. That’s because in a group class there may be up to 20 other students that need help and so the teacher’s time is split among them. If you want to improve quickly and have the right technique, you will enjoy private lessons.
While group classes are normally scheduled on set days and times, private dance lessons can be scheduled at a time that is convenient to you. If your work schedule is quite hectic, that shall not prevent you from dancing. Private lessons solve this problem and allow you to make an appointment with your instructor at a time that will work for you. We are open for private lessons daily from 10 am to 10pm. Earlier appointments are sometimes available so please talk to us.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At the age of seven he began an intensive study of Argentinean folklore dance with Monica Maturano and at 10 he received his first tango lesson from his mother, beginning a life long love for the dance and sharing it with others. In NYC, Hernán’s first and most influential teacher was Cesar Coelho of Forever Tango. He was also infuenced by Luis Canan, Jorge Torres (Tango salón), Francisco Forquera (escenario) and Carlos Perez (Tango salon).
Hernán has taught and performed at various festivals, milongas and studios in New York and Massachusetts and most recently in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and Argentina. He was a principal dancer in the off-Broadway dance play Let’s Speak Tango and choreographed and starred in the short film Gardenias. He performed in the past four productions led by Maestro Romulo Larrea, Tango First Century, Spotlight on Tango, TANGOS: from Gardel to Piazzolla and TANGO for lovers across the United-States, Canada and Europe.
Currently, Hernán travels between New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, and Europe to teach and perform Tango.
ANITA FLEJTER, originally from Poland for years actively competed in International Standard and Latin and performed as member of various performance groups all over Europe.
However she found her true love – Argentine Tango – only after she moved to New York City in 2004. She pursues her Argentine Tango fascination since then, training with world-renowned dancers such as: Cesar Coelho, Roberto Herrera, Chicho Fromboli y Juana Sepuldeva, Gustavo Naveira y Giselle Anne, Joanna Copez, Mariana Flores y Edwardo Capussi, Fabian Salaz, Guillermina Quiroga, and many others.
Together with Hernan Brizuela Anita Flejter is a co-owner an co-founder of Ultimate Tango Dance School, Adelante Studios, and Co-Owner of Stepping Out Studios in New York, NY.

PRIVATE LESSONS POLICIES.
Single lessons: $90 plus $10 studio fee.
5 lessons: $400 plus $50 stuido fee.

Please read carefully all the information below – it’s a set of simple rules and policies that we would like to establish at the beginning of our teacher/s – student relationship to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.
1. Each lessons is 60 minutes.
2. Up to 2 people can participate in private lesson. Additional payment is required if more than 2 persons are planning to attend.
3. Lessons are held at:
***Ultimate Tango Boston: Dance Union, 16 Bow Street, Somerville, MA 02143. Please add $10 floor fee
***Ultimate Tango New York, Champions Studios, 257 West 39th Street, Fl 14, New York, NY 10018. Please add $20 floor fee.
The beautiful thing about Tango is that it will accept you no matter who you are, no matter how you look, no matter how you move. There is only one condition – you need to respect the Tango by doing everything to understand it and embed it into your body.
The group classes give you necessary basics and safe you TONE OF MONEY! It’s true.
At one moment though you get to the point that no group class will satisfy you. You took them all. You know it all, but you still feel like something important is missing. This is a moment to start taking privates.
4. Private space is NOT guaranteed, though aimed for. Lessons are held on shared floor space where other private lessons are (or might be) happening. Music is played on rotary basis. At certain times of the day private space might be available, but not guaranteed. If privacy is a must for you, please let your Instructor know, and the private space will be booked. Please note that there is additional charge of to secure the private studio.
5. Please arrive not less than 5 minutes BEFORE your lesson so you have time to change and get ready.
6. If you are late – your lesson will not be extended beyond your originally scheduled time.
8. All lessons need to be pre-paid. You can pay cash/check directly to your Instructor or pay by Credit Card online.
9. There is a 24 hours cancellation policy. If you cannot make it – please let us know 24 hours before your scheduled lesson. If you simply don’t show up – one lesson will be charged out of your package.
10. We do not take any responsibility for your missing or lost belongings. Please make sure you know where
you left your stuff and don’t forger to always collect it and take it with you when you are leaving.
11. Consent and Waiver of Liability: You, as a person fully aware of your health condition assume full responsibly for undertaking and performing any moves or exercises that can be required or asked for during the dance lesson.You release and discharge your Instructor as well as any Studio/Space/Venue that the lesson was performed at, from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, actions, or causes of action arising from the moves and exercises assigned or performed during the class hereunder, including, without limitation, any damages arising from acts of active or passive negligence on the part of the Instructor, to the fullest extent allowed by law. Purchasing single lessons indicates that Student understands and agrees that this Consent will apply to
and govern any and all future Dance lesson sessions scheduled with the Instructor.
12. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS. As simple as that. If you get your discount based on purchase of the package… let the logic of that prevail.
