About
I've been working in theater and film since the age of six, and I've appeared in national television commercials, movies and print ads. (My full resume and portfolio are on my website: KellyBurr.com.) I’ve worked with Broadway and Off-Broadway, regional, community and college theaters.
**LOCATION NOTE: I work in New York but I live in Southern Vermont. All lessons are virtual unless you’re local! It costs money for me to reply to you, so please confirm this in your message.**
I can help you start your career or develop your existing one, or we can just have some fun and get you feeling confident enough to go out and do local shows and film work.
I love teaching with humor and making things fun. I began directing and teaching acting at seventeen, and since then, I've trained people of all ages and experience levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the craft or an advanced student preparing a piece for an audition or a role, I can create a lesson plan specifically for you to develop however you want. Working one-on-one allows us to explore your skillset and decide what would benefit you the most.
I also specialize in working with neurodivergent actors and artists.
My professional specialty is Shakespeare. I have a master's degree in Shakespeare and Theatre from the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-Upon-Avon and have trained with Shakespearean greats like Gregory Doran and John Barton. If you want to learn how to understand or perform Shakespeare, I offer an educational program called "Shakespeare for the Completely Uninterested." I promise, it won't be boring.
I am an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. I can guide you through the process of writing your show or screenplay.
I love to teach acting and theater as a way to build self-confidence and communication. Everyone can benefit from these skills, whether they are on stage or in an office.
Whatever you want to learn, let's talk! We can develop a customized lesson plan to meet your specific needs, objectives and goals and get you creating.
I’m currently taking students on weekends and weekday nights, but I do have a Friday 9-10 AM (EST) slot opening up.
