I have been a performing, teaching and recording drummer for over 30 years. I love to help students with their creative process, light them up with the joy of making music, inspire and guide them through the mastery of the drumset.
I have been teaching for over 30 years - private studio, master classes, vocal accompianist, and the past 20 years have been teaching as an adjunct professor at Amherst College and Smith College, as well as faculty at the Vermont Jazz Center, the Open Music Collective and clinician and adjudicator/teacher at Holyoke Community College Festivals and guest instructor at Northfield Mount Hermon.
My specialty is jazz and jazz improvisation - although I teach many styles and accept all levels.

I like to find out about my new students' playing experience, interests and goals in learning the instrument. We go over basics and fundamentals to make sure we have a good foundation for playing. From there, we set the course of learning and the journey begins!
I have over 30 years experience as a performer, teacher, composer and educator. My early studies included piano and voice and later on I went on to study music at Univ. of Mass, where drummer Max Roach was on faculty. I was a participant in his ensemble classes. From there I went on to receive a National Endowment for the Arts Study Grant to study with master drummer Charli Persip in NYC. In addition, I have studied with drummer Alan Dawson and drummer Carl Goodwin.
I ask $60.00 for a one hour lesson. I also offer consultations and specific goal lessons at one hour and a half for $90.00 (for instance, a one time consult or a specific longer lesson to practice for an audition or specific concert, etc.)
For younger students, I can offer a shorter lesson of 1/2 hour for $30.00.
I will be available for Skype lessons in the near future.
I began teaching at the request of students who came to my performances and wanted to study with me. I enjoyed teaching so much, I began offering lessons.
I have worked with students from all over the world - Colombia, Korea, Nigeria, Chili.....I have worked with younger students (the youngest age 4 and 6 years old) and college students and older adult students.
