Sally Jahriss
About
Greetings! How was your day today? I'm Sally Jahriss a professional singer, actress, and college professor. My expertise is in the Voice - anything you need to know. Voice as in speaking & singing. However, I created my own college course in Speech for Radio, TV & Stage. I also taught Voice & Articulation. I have over 30 years of teaching experience in these areas but I am by choice, offering special training in Acting for Stage. Sure, this can cover many areas of performance for stage actors/actresses. I possess a Master of Education degree in Arts in Education. I did my thesis on the physiologic aspects of vocal production for speech & singing. I hold a MA teaching License in Theatre, K-12 ... but it's the 'doing' that makes a great performer!
Theatre and music are my life passions! Oh, but I must share one more; rescuing & caring for animals. So I have 3. There was a time I moved to Manhattan & had an incredible career as a professional singer. So, I share your complete enthusiasm and your dreams. I came back because my mother was terminally ill. I never thought I would not go back but I began teaching. I soon found out that the success of my students was...my success! I'm not a teacher or coach because I didn't make it in NYC. I am a born teacher who did make it and by choice, I am still making it because of .... you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We speak on the phone for a long or short of time they need. It's a brief getting to one another. There's no pressure to sign up for lessons. I prefer to say, "Try a session. See how you like it, like me? With no further commitment. From my past experiences, most one-timers, reschedule. Note: It's the relationship between the student and teacher/coach that creates a 'yes, let's continue.'
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
30 years of performance experience and teaching experience. M.Ed. Studied Acting at Hunter College in Manhattan. MA Teaching License in Theatre, K-12.
