Matt is very patient and always helps me through something if I dont understand it. He is so kind and funny and lets me play almost any song I want. And he is just a great teacher overall!

Matt is an amazingly warm, enthusiastic, and kind teacher and we cant think of anyone better to teach our boys guitar online! Music is hard to learn virtually for young children, but our kids made significant progress with Matt during the pandemic. He is always introducing fun songs that keeps them very engaged and he gently pushes them to learn. He really connects with children in an enjoyable way. He has also been flexible during difficult times, very punctual and sends us our weekly lesson sheets promptly!

    TEACHING APPROACH & PHILOSOPHY

I approach teaching the lessons with an emphasis on playfulness and patience. Music is suppose to be fun!

By emphasizing enjoyment and connection in the lessons, students will build a pleasurable association with music and look forward to our weekly meetings. It is crucial that students embrace the musical development process with a fun attitude, and stay clear of dread or nervousness for each weekly session. This is especially important in the beginning when we are just getting the hang of playing our instrument.

The "real world" skills associated with developing musicianship have long been understood as extremely relevant. Even if students don't go on to become professional musicians, the skills they learn and cultivate will be absolutely invaluable.

The world we live in today can be difficult to grow up in! Finding identity and purposefulness can be a challenge. Cultivating musicianship is a practice of self-expression and exploration, which can sometimes be lost in the academic classroom settings.

Music helps us grow and connect, and we get to jam our favorite songs while we do it!!
