Hello! My name is Roderick, I’m a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic, currently living in Suffolk County, Long Island. I moved to the US in the Summer of 2016 without knowing a word in English besides “Hello” and “Thank you” and by the beginning of the spring of 2017 I was already fluent in this new language. I would like to share my “cheat codes” of learning a new language in a fun and understandable way. This is doable at any age or level of knowledge that you have, as long as you’re willing to shift your perspective on how to learn this new language. I will be waiting for you. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration. and a minor in Spanish I am originally from Puerto Rico, born and raised there. I speak Spanish well. Right now I work in a school as a Crisis paraprofessional and I am a Spanish teacher with an enrichment program for Kindergarten children.

Established in 2014, Yak Academy is a premier language learning center located in Arlington, MA, and nearby areas. The academy specializes in teaching Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese to children aged 1-10. Utilising a proprietary curriculum, Yak Academy ensures an active-learning and play-based environment in its weekly enrichment classes and preschool programs. The focus is always on immersing students in a foreign language, fostering a global perspective from an early age.

Being an avid language learner and a linguistics enthusiast, few things bring me more joy than sharing the passion for languages with others and helping them improve their proficiency and fluency day by day, through the exploration of language aspects relevant to their goals. I have graduate studies in teaching Spanish as a second language and 2+ years of experience in teaching. I also spearheaded an initiative to teach basic Spanish to my colleagues at school. Simply put, I love languages and I love teaching and learning. As a matter of fact, some of my best memories have to do with being in a language class, both as a student and as a teach
