Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask the student about their knowledge of the game, exercise regiment, what their goals are for the lesson and. I give them a plan on how we will both make their lesson fun and worthwhile.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played tennis in College and I am not a professional tennis player, but I will play with folks on a 4/5, 3/5, 2/5 etc and give them a great workout.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It all depends on the distance I have to travel and how long the lesson goes for. For folks who just want a great hitting partner, i will charge $25 for 45 minutes. New comer or folks who want to learn the game, I will do $30 for an hour and i am open to negotiations depending on the rapport we build over time
How did you get started teaching?
I just use to go to the court and play just to stay in shape, them a few fellows started offering me money just to hit with them on certain days. Feom then on, I decided to give lessons, but to folks i know, not strangers, because i am not a Certified Tennis Coach.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids, middle schoolers and adults. I also hit with aspiring pro players from time to time, when I get time to meet up.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I work out 4 days a week and I want to play more tennis this year, because i have not held a racket in a year and half, but tennis comes to me natural.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to meet up with the person, have a chat and hit some balls. If the client is a new player, he/she should give the coach maybe 3 sessions and make a decision to keep him/her or to let go.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I will just tell clients to be honest and feel free to talk to me about their level or knowledge about the game and what they expect from me. Tennis is a game to enjoy, not a judgemental sport.
