What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Listen to what they're looking for & look @ what they're able to do. Demonstrating & explaining in the easiest to understand way allow for some repitition of a new skill but then move on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Studied dance from age 7 through entire life. Have multiple degrees in Ballroom dance instruction. Studied with world champions & earned titles as a professional competitor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$75 is a very general target rate. Travel & floor rent factor in.
How did you get started teaching?
Straight out of high school and ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
Every age from 3-90+. Every level from 1st timers to professional level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As the ballroom instructor @ American University just watched them perform an amazing piece I choreographed for them with which they did a GREAT job !
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for degrees in Ballroom instruction.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You can take it in baby steps. No long term committment is necessary. Start with one lesson & see how you like it & how much you were able to accomplish.
