DWDA has been in business for thirty- five years. We teach all forms of dance. Our teachers are college trained and have extensive teaching and performing backgrounds. We have performed in concert all through the USA, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. We are a family friendly studio that takes great pride in developing and nurturing young dancers. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Welcoming the student and making sure student is comfortable in the new enviorment.
Keep comunication lines open between teacher studen and parent.
Assessing student for the first month to assure that student is in the class that will best serve the needs of the student, where they are now and and where they want to be in the future.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
our teachers are college trained and have extensive performance experience. The have studied, taught and performed all over the world.

How did you get started teaching?
The instructors at the Detroit- Windsor Dance Academy started teaching for various reason.
Some came up through DWDA’s mentoring program, went to college only to return to the academy because of their love of dance and the desire to give back.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students from all walks of life from the very beginner to the adult professional. Our students come to us from as far as Toledo Ohio and Ann Arbor Micjigan
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Annual Spring Concert was held for the twenty- fifth year at the Music Hall Performinf Arts Center in Detroit. The concert was overwhelmingly well received.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who is knowledgeable, and has the ability to transfer that knowledge effectively. A teacher who cares about the student as a person.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what it is you want out of dance so you can communicate your desire to the teacher. Do I want to to dance just for the fun of it or am l considering dance as a more important part of my life? Ask yourself, do I have the time commitment? Am I willing to practice outside of the dance studoio?
